Training Class General Information

Trailwind Agility offers general public agility training classes during the spring, summer, and fall months. Normally training sessions start in May and run through late September.

Training classes are conducted outdoors. Each session is scheduled to have classes meet once per week over for a six week session.

Training is not conducted as a full time career, but find it important to be able to offer the opportunity to learn about agility training. Classes are structured to provide a fun and safe training environment for dog and handler.  Class levels offered include Foundation, Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Novice/Open Competition, and Advanced Competition. Class levels are structured to build upon previous training levels.

Training is approached to prepare teams to compete in future agility trials. Realizing not all training teams may wish to compete, and may enjoy training only to provide an activity between owner and dog, the emphasis on an enjoyable and safe training environment is critical while also providing a foundation that if a team finds they have an interest in competing they can easily transition to such goals.

Private Training Information

Due to not being a full time instructor/trainer, private training is not a primary focus. However, if an interest in such needs exists, arranging for private training times can be accomodated. Private training meetings are normally scheduled for a 40-45 minute time period during hours in the mornings or mid-day or early afternoon hours.

Event Information

A dog event calendar is maintained to assist those interested in dog competition events that may be ongoing in central Iowa as well as more regional or national events. The calendar will also indicate training classes and any times which the training area may not be available. The calendar is not meant to be all-encompassing for all dog event venues, but an attempt is made to list events or opportunities that have been of interest to many in the past.
